From Liberty to Eagle.

I got a tip from an undisclosed source that a gold coin collector wants to sell his St Gaudens Double Eagle, said to be the most beautiful gold coin minted by the U.S. Mint in 1907.

I wanted to trade one of my Canadian Maple Leaf gold coins with him for his St Gaudens Double Eagle. I sought an appointment that was initially declined. After learning that I am a blogger, he called me.

Before showing his St Gaudens Double Eagle gold coin, he started telling me about its history that I am already aware. He told me that it was the first time that the America switched over to the Eagle insignia from Liberty that was on all the gold coins since the year 1833.

After an hour of pleasant and knowledgeable conversation, I returned home with my Canadian Maple Leaf gold coin. Yes, he considered it not worth to exchange it with his prized St Gaudens Double Eagle.
